Ceramic Foam Filtration-SiC

Application:

SiC ceramic foam filters are designed for filtering castings of cast iron, bronze, brass and copper-alloys. The maximum recommended temperature of the application is 1480°C.

Product function:

• Filtration of impurities such as slag, sand, oxide films, ceramic inclusions

• Calm filling converts turbulent flow to laminar flow and minimizes reoxidation of metal

• More space on the model plate and fewer metal cycles

• Reduction of the risk of mold erosion in the gating system

• Simplifying the gating system

• Reduction of human factor effects (foundry experience, unskilled labor, process safety)

• Increased physical properties and surface quality of castings

Precautions:

1. The closer the position is to the casting cavity, the better it is to reduce the probability of secondary oxidation;

2. It is better to design the gating system simply without considering other slag retaining measures, which can improve the utilization rate of sand mold and process yield;

3. The working area of the filter should be 4 ~ 6 times of the flow resistance section of the gating system to ensure that the pouring speed is not affected;

4. The filter should be selected according to the type of casting alloy and pouring temperature, and should not be used over temperature;

5. Select the appropriate pore size to achieve the filtering effect;

6. The pouring speed cannot be controlled by filter.
